RE: What's the limit at this ATM?

First time I have seen it as well. No worries on posting it again. Some of us do not live on this forum and have missed it the first time around. And if you would not have posted it I would never have seen it. Again thanks. I wonder if the driver got hurt. It really hit his door.

RE: Disney World or bust

We thought about taking our TT last year in June when we went and we are so glad we didn't. When you call into disney ask if there is any discounts attached to your name. I have the Chase Disney Visa and I got a 40% discount on the Mod rooms. It allowed us to add the meal plan and stay at the Mod resort for less than the Lower resorts. Get the meal plan, it is well worth it! And Have fun.

RE: TV needs tires. What do I get Goodyear, Nokian, Michelins?

I second the Pirelli choice... replaced the Michelins on my truck with Scorpion ATs and couldn't be happier... I think that Pirelli are junk. I put them on an a Pathfinder that I had and the tires were just about worn out in 15,000 miles. I could not believe it. Pirelli was good about the treadlife warranty and gave me like 70% of the value back to use toward new tires. And I went back to what I know to be good. BFG AT... This goes to show that each tire maker has good and bad days! I had a bad experience with their product and I will not trust that name again.

RE: Vehicle Prices

quote=happyeaglesfan, I think we can agree to disagree. You being a stealer and me being the consumer! I think we can agree to disagree. I used to believe what you think until I got in the business and saw the real picture. I am definitly not a stealer, thanks for your opinion. I just thought I would try to be a voice of reason for you. I too would like to buy a new truck right now and mine is worth nothing. I do this everyday and see both sides, I can't afford to lose on mine and swing the payment of a new one. I won't be buying now, but it sure isn't the dealers fault Agree, it is not all the dealers fault. I just think they are taking advantage of the situation in this instance. I know they are not in business to lose money. But I too am not looking to throw my money into the trash. I, like I said before, will drive my truck now until the fenders fall off of it. It would be a nice upgrade but not a pressing need. Filling my tank, when needed, and putting food on my table is where I will spend my money. Good luck to you. Happy Camping!

RE: Vehicle Prices

The burb I was looking at was loaded, leather, sunroof, 4 captains chairs, it had it all. It was priced I think at 55,000! I know there is a lot more room to work in this than a base model. Lots more profits for the dealer. And I do not think you are understanding me. Yes the dealer is taking a gas hog off of my hands but I too am taking a gas hog that he can not sell unless someone else like myself has a need. I am being raped coming and going. It has to be give and take and the dealers are not working that way. I think we can agree to disagree. You being a stealer and me being the consumer! There's a little more mark-up than that. A 45K Burb could be discounted fairly easily to 40k,and more if there not selling good, plus all the current incentives at the time. You are right I was just guessing from home but here are actual figures MSRP $45,590 dealer invoice $42,557 supplier price $42,170 GM employee $40,360 total mark up $3,033 and you know no one ever pays sticker so just how much do you think they are making? If the dealer is trying to beat another dealer ( all the time ) that mark up is usually gone.

RE: Vehicle Prices

Paul This is exactly what I am saying only I do not expect to see an increase in the value of my truck I just think dealers are using this to their advantage a little too much. I mean I know I will have problems trading right now, but the dealer also needs to realize they are going to have the same problems moving their new vehicles. It has got to be give and take but with dealers now it is take and take for them. As for the dealer saying it is not the same or they are not giving me a rough 08 burb, well I am not trading in a rough 06. I have said it is not a pressing need. We have 3 kids now and only plan on one more in a few years. The truck seats 6 so it will be mine until the fenders fall off or the market changes! the problem is the dealer not only takes a loss on the new one to make you happy, they would also take a big loss on yours because they would never be able to sell it. The market for these used are so bad now that after it sits on the dealers used car lot and can't sell it they have to be able to cash out of it. That would be at the auction. Right now at the auctions they aren't even getting bids on used trucks or suv's. It's not that dealers are losing a little at the auctions they can't even get anyone to bid at all. If you don't want to lose money on yours don't trade it! You could sell it yourself but you will never get what you think it is worth. We have used trucks and suv's on our lot right now for thousands under kelly Blue book and NADA and still can't sell them. I think you should just wait till this whole oil mess blows over, it can't last forever. The dealer wants it to be lose lose for me. They want ME to take the hit two times. I do not mind taking a hit on one end of it becasue I want something. But I am also taking something off the dealers hands. There is a high $ to be made on these new High priced BURBS. A lot more mark up than on a gas sipper. The dealer will still make money selling me the burb. I am not sure of the amount but I am sure there is approx 20% profit at least on one of these vehicles.

RE: Vehicle Prices

Getting back to the original topic, I think the hard thing to understand is that if used truck prices are down 30%, new truck prices aren't down 30%. There is a fixed market for commercial trucks but beyond that there is not much new or used demand for trucks at the moment. Eventually, there will be fewer trucks produced, so possibly prices will rise considerably. Only people who need one will buy one, as opposed to all kinds of people who are buying trucks now. So perhaps a $30k truck today will cost $50k in a year or two. Perhaps from a dealer viewpoint, hanging onto an '08, even for several years, until that happens, is better than selling now for a loss. So it's hard to know what to do from a personal viewpoint, for the majority of us who don't actually need trucks. Paul This is exactly what I am saying only I do not expect to see an increase in the value of my truck I just think dealers are using this to their advantage a little too much. I mean I know I will have problems trading right now, but the dealer also needs to realize they are going to have the same problems moving their new vehicles. RE: Vehicle Prices

If you feel your truck is worth so much more than you are being allowed for trade, why not sell it yourself? Then you can get a real taste of the current market for a truck like yours. (P.S. - don't sit by the phone waiting for it to ring!)....Good luck to you! I know my truck is worth a lot more than that. I was figuring High Teens. There are still those out there that need a truck like mine. They may be fewer and further between but they are still out there. Just like I am still here wanting another gas hog, or BURB. I am willing to take the plunge and take Burb off the dealers lot with the questions of fuel prices. Something I forgot as I was leaving the dealers lot there was an 02 Ford Ext cab 4X4 with a gas engine and the price was over $19,000!

Vehicle Prices

I just wanted to share my experience with everyone. A little background, my family consists of me, my wife and 3 young boys. We currently have 3 vehicles. My truck (see sig), the wifes minivan 04 pontiac montana, and I have a jetta for my beater car (daily driver). My truck in the last three years have only been used when it snows or when we go camping. My wife uses the minivan to get the kids to school and for her daily 1.5 mile drive to work. I drive my Jetta to work. So I was thinking of trading my Truck, her minivan in on a new burb or tahoe. So off to the dealer. I went to the dealer that is close to my home. Not my normal dealer just to see what they would offer for a trade in on my truck, and then I would add the van in if all seemed well. What I learned was shocking. The dealer took out the NADA book and showed me exactly what they would give me for my trade. He took the low tradein in rough condition and then - $2000. He said he knows my truck is not is rough shape, it is NEW but this is all they would offer. I said that is fine and said now lets look up the 2008 BURB and take the Low Tradein and minus $2000 and that is what I would like to offer for the purchase price. He said well you are not buying a rough BURB you are buying a new BURB. I said exactly my point. I know that the market for these trucks are not very good right now for me as a consumer or them as a dealer. I am not looking to get into a small vehicle that will not work for my family. I need the room. Don't get me wrong the truck has plenty of room for my family I, as always, want more... I was just thinking as a family it was time for more comfort, but I did not realize I would be taking that much of a bath at the dealership. I mean come on my truck is a beautiful 2006 Chevy 2500HD 4X4 extended cab with only 11000 miles. I guess I will just have to keep it for 10 more years and still only have 70,000 miles on it! I would like to know if other are experiencing the same thing throughout the country.

RE: Deck Question

Whey not get a small PT molding over the edge and tack with small nails. This will give a nice finished look and will hold the carpet in place.

RE: Park The Pickup

Okay. I did not read all of this post but had to chime in with my experience. I really do not believe I took the time to figure this all out. I have an 06 chevy 2500HD ext cab 6.0L, two years ago after I bought the truck I fell into a good deal of a 96 VW jetta for $750. Yes I got a deal but the car had about 170,000 miles on it. But it has run like a champ for the past two years. Now I have about 195,000 miles on my Jetta. That is 25,000 miles that are NOT on my truck... It takes on avg. 12 gallons to fill my Jetta and it gives me on avg. 300 miles per tank. 25000miles / 300 miles per tank = 84 fill ups * 12 gallons per fill up @ 3.00 per gallon avg. 12*3=$36*84=$3024 to drive the Jetta. Now for the same miles in my truck. I get 12 to 15 MPG in my truck. I will use 15 (the high end) 25000/15=1667 gallons of gas @ the same $3.00 per gallon = $5001 to drive my truck. The difference is 5001-3024=a savings of $1977. Now I had to insure the car but when I did I dropped the amount of miles I was driving my truck and added the car. Which my ins. still went up about 110 per year or 220 for the two year period. $1977 (Gas savings) -$220 (ins)= $1777 real world savings. Yes I had to have it inspected which is like $15 and the tags which is like $50 per year. So that is $130 for the two years $1777-130=$1648! Now lets add in the savings for the current value of my truck with its current 11,500 miles vs the adjusted 36,500 miles if I would have driven my truck. According to KBB there is a difference of $1648 in the value. So add that to the $1648 and it is $3248 SAVINGS for the last two years. Now I will admit, I got a good deal on the car. I have also been lucky I had no problems with the car. But even if I would have purchased a better car say like in the $4000 range it would have only taken me 2 years to see the savings. In closing I would like to say that I miss driving my truck... But I look forward to when it snows or in the summer when we go camping. And in ten years when my truck only has like 60,000 miles on it and I am still driving it I will have a big smile on my face when I hit the pumps to fill up the truck only a few times a year. I do use the truck every now and again just to run it, and everytime I do drive it it is like getting into a New truck for the first time. Now this may not be for everyone but it really worked for me and my family, and We even go camping more often this summer because we got a seasonal site I will enjoy it even more because I will be able to see my boys play in the creek, sit by the fire, ride their bikes, play in the woods, etc! And yes for now we still take the truck to our seasonal site. It is so much easier to go camping with three boys (6 years old, 5 years old, and 6 month old) when the camper is already set up! Happy Camping to all!

RE: Drooping Window Seal Corners

Good question? I do not have the answer but am interested in what others have to say. I have noticed this in my TT and it is only 6 years old? I thought about a flexable calking but am not sure?

RE: Spray in Liner?

I only had the Rhino in an old nissan. I had the truck for 5 years and the dealer told me they put the Rhino in to fix the rust problem in the bed of the truck. Well I hauled everything from broken up concrete to gravel to topsoil. I never had a problem. I have not put the Rhino in my new truck yet but I plan to. Also with my old Nissan truck I had a lug wrench the + kind in the middle of the bed and it never moved. It was always in the middle of the bed. I have seen the line-x and it also looks good. But the prices in my area are the same so I will go with the Rhino. Good luck and I am sure you will be happy with either one.

RE: Fuel Prices

The Government does control the price of milk or at least the price the dairy farmers are paid for their milk! Then the difference in milk from place to place has to do with how it is processed. How far the milk has to travel to be processed. The same thing should be happening with fuel/oil. The government could set the price the big oil companies can sell it for. Cap the profits the refinery's can make in profit. As someone else has stated I can choose to live without milk and I will be fine. I need fuel and lots of it each day. Yes I guess I could go back to a horse and buggy and save fuel! But I have come to rely on fuel to power my home, heat my home, and transportation. And my point before is if the government is going to control the profits of dairy farmers why are they not doing anything about big oil company's.
